1. Why did Ms Gruwell have the Freedom Writers study the Holocaust and meet Holocaust survivors?

Because she want to show at the classe the racism against Jews who is the one as against black people.

They relate to Anne because her life look like their life and they have a lot of think in commun. Freedom Writers and Anne have the same age, they have see her friends die, they are a victime of discrimination and they risk their life every days.

Freedom Writers' Diary

1. I want to invite Dikembe Mutombo. He's an important basketball player but he helps people in Congo, Africa. He opens a Hospital in the Congolese capital of Kinshasa and he gives many money for it. I want to know why he helps poor people.

2. If I was his teacher I would answer: "because it's important to see how other people live". They learn about people who fight for their freedom and risk their life for it and for other people. They learn about holocaust.
